Bates Nut Farm is a mile up the road from us. In addition to a great nut store and gift shop, they grow pumpkins and christmas trees. And they host one of the county's best craft fairs four times a year. Susie loves it. Sign up for our email list and we'll let you know when.

Bell Gardens - Mr. Bell (as in Taco Bell) bought 115 acres about ten minutes from here and made it into the most beautiful farm and fruit stand you have ever seen, complete with fancy landscaping. But the neat thing is that Mr. Bell loves trains, and has a miniature railroad which winds through his crops. He charges $3.00 (age three and over) to ride the train and it's well worth it.  Trains generally run Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 4:00.

Lake Wolford - Just over Bear Ridge from us. (The biggest bear ever killed in California was killed on this ridge in the eighteen hundreds. Honest.)
Bass fishing is great.

The San Diego Wild Animal Park is about a half hour from us. A fantastic family experience.
